The role will be situated within the Beverages Operating Unit and report to the Commercial Manager. The role is based in Pretoria West. The purpose of the Management Accountant role is to: The purpose of the Role:

• Compile and send out daily/weekly/monthly sales reports
• Yield variance reporting
• Stock take (analyze variance, monthly stock take meetings, implement controls if necessary)
• Product costings
• Material price variance analysis
• Stock re-valuation analysis
• Management account reporting
• Assist with Month-end close processes
• Assist with the preparation of the Business Unit Deck slides
• Provide ad-hoc assistance with on-site operational functions
• Maintain the SAP CO-PA Product Costing, Cost Centre Accounting and Sales and Profit modules
• Influence commercial decision-making through data-driven insights and recommendations

Minimum Requirements

• CA(SA) with 1-2 years post articles experience
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is advantageous
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Management accounting principles and practices
• Product costing principles, practices and performance indicators
• Business strategies, Business processes and Controls
• Excellent communication (incl. Report writing)
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting

• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports (incl. Production, Consumption and Sales)
• Review daily and weekly BOM consumption and product costing reports
• Compile weekly and monthly reports of actual raw material usage vs standard (Yield Analysis):
  • Investigate variances by validating the logic (accuracy and completeness) of BOMs loaded on SAP
  • Investigate variances by engaging with Operational teams (Production, R&D and QA)
• Prepare a monthly product costing report together with appropriate explanations for the monthly management accounting pack.
• Prepare and review the monthly reconciliations in product costing and cost center accounting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Generate the flexed budget report and conduct investigations to identify and address variances.
• Prepare and report on monthly Continuous Improvement (CI) Project savings
• Prepare and report on monthly CAPEX cash flows
• Prepare and report on monthly product returns and losses

Month-End Close

• Support Commercial Manager through:
  • Preparation of routine monthly journals
  • Investigating actual vs forecasted variances in various expense categories

Product Costing Budgeting and Forecasting

• Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
• Calculate and investigate quarterly variances in standard costing for different SKUs. This includes:
  • Tracking Raw and packaging material price changes
  • Determining Activity rates for Production Overhead allocation purposes

Product Cost Integrity

• Maintain Routings and Activity rates on SAP CO-PA (product costing system).
• Develop, oversee and drive momentum of continuous BOM and routing audit processes to be conducted by Production, R&D and QA resources.
• Coordinate investigations and audits with Operations Teams (Production, R&D and QA) to support initiatives designed to control costs and maximize profitability.
• Review and provide insight into proposed changes to product costs (as a result of trials or change in specifications) and new product proposals.
• Maintain the integrity and support proper execution of the NPD approval process.
• Create and load BOMs for trial codes requested from Master Data
• Calculate and implement any approved changes to product costing, clearly outlining the impact of such changes on the cost base and ultimately, profitability.
• Monitor, review and provide feedback on the actual impact of changes that have been made and new product costing as part of the “post launch” process.

Project Coordination

• Assist in the compilation of CAPEX motivations and other ad-hoc operational requirements.
• Conduct ad-hoc investigations and feasibility studies on Continuous Improvement Projects

Information and Data Management

• Accurately and regularly capture data into the various information systems to enable access to reliable data and reporting for trend analysis and decision making.
