Movie Reviewer/Critic

Nollywood Reinvented (NR) is seeking a talented and motivated Movie Reviewer/Critic to join our dynamic team. As a movie reviewer, you will play a key role in curating the discourse around a particular Nigerian movie. You will contribute to our mission of fostering meaningful conversations about African storytelling through film.

Responsibilities

• Visit cinemas in Nigeria and watch recently released Nigerian movies
• Produce high-quality written reviews and analysis on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with NR’s goals and audience preferences.
• Conduct thorough research on Nollywood films, web series, industry trends, and related topics to ensure accurate and up-to-date content.
• Write content that adheres to NR’s unique style, tone, and voice, engaging readers and encouraging them to join in discussions.
• Proofread and edit content to ensure clarity, coherence, and grammatical accuracy.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate fresh and innovative content ideas.
• Engage with readers and respond to comments on published articles, fostering a sense of community and encouraging dialogue.
• Stay informed about developments in the Nollywood and African cinema landscape to contribute timely and relevant content.
• Collaborate with the team to optimize content for SEO, social media, and other digital platforms.
• Adhere to deadlines and manage time effectively to ensure consistent content delivery.
• Contribute to the growth of NR’s online presence by actively participating in social media engagement and promotion.

Qualifications

• Must live in Nigeria with access to a nearby cinema
• A strong passion for Nollywood and African cinema, with a deep interest in movies, web series, and pop culture.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency in English language, grammar, and punctuation.
• Ability to conduct research and synthesize information from various sources.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Previous experience in content writing, blogging, or journalism is a plus.
• Flexibility to work remotely and attend occasional team meetings or events.

Compensation

Fair compensation as well as reimbursement for cinema tickets.
