PET Plastic Blow Moulding Technician

Job Description

Our client a manufacturer of plastic bottles and caps is looking for a PET Plastic Blow Moulding Technician to join their team in Johannesburg, East Rand.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical fault finding and repairs on production equipment
• Maintain and repair: Injection moulding machines
• Maintain and repair: Blow moulding machines
• Work on: Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Assist with: Mould changes and setups
• Assist with: Basic mould maintenance
• Carry out preventive maintenance (inspection, lubrication, part replacement)
• Respond to breakdowns and minimise downtime
• Identify root causes of recurring issues and suggest improvements

Minimum Requirements

• Trade-tested Fitter & Turner or equivalent experience
• Plastics / blow moulding / injection moulding industry experience will secure
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Understanding of: Hydraulics and Pneumatics
• Comfortable using workshop tools and measuring equipment

Bonus Requirement

• Plastics manufacturing: Injection moulding and Blow moulding Equipment & Systems
• Experience with VSDs (Variable Speed Drives)
• Exposure to: Compressors, chillers, conveyors
• Continuous production environments
• Tooling & Toolmaking
• Toolmaking or mould repair experience
• Ability to work with tight tolerances and precision components
• Electrical & multi-Skilling
• Basic electrical capability, including: Installing or wiring VSDs
• Running and terminating cables
• Reading basic electrical diagrams
• Basic electrical fault finding
• Experience with motors and control components
• PLC / Controls
• Basic PLC exposure (fault finding, not programming)
• Ability to identify control or signal issues
