Job Title
The Supply Chain Director is a senior leadership role responsible for designing, leading, and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain across the organization. This includes oversight of warehousing, logistics of feed and fish, local and international Procurement, and fleet operations.
The role ensures the seamless, cost-effective, and reliable movement of inputs (feeds, materials) and finished products (fish and related products) across the value chain, while building scalable systems to support the organization's growth and expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
- Build scalable systems and processes to support expansion of the farms, hatcheries, and Sales operations.
- Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, advising the Managing Director on supply chain risks, investments, and opportunities.
Warehousing & Inventory Management (Feeds & Inputs)
- Oversee all warehouse operations, with a focus on feed storage, handling, and distribution.
- Ensure optimal inventory levels, minimizing stockouts and overstocking.
- Implement robust inventory control systems (FIFO/FEFO, cycle counts, loss prevention).
- Drive improvements in warehouse layout, efficiency, and safety standards.
Logistics & Distribution (Cold Chain & Dry Goods)
- Lead the design and execution of logistics operations across logistics centers and distribution networks.
- Ensure efficient and reliable delivery of products while maintaining cold chain integrity.
- Optimize routing, load planning, and last-mile delivery to reduce costs and improve service levels.
- Establish KPIs for on-time delivery, cost per ton, and product loss rates.
Procurement (Local & International)
- Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of feeds, equipment, spare parts, and operational inputs.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, and contracts to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Oversee international procurement processes including imports, shipping, and customs clearance.
- Develop procurement strategies to mitigate risks such as price volatility and supply disruptions.
Fleet Management
- Oversee the performance, maintenance, and utilization of the company's fleet.
- Ensure effective preventive maintenance systems to maximize uptime and asset life.
- Optimize fleet allocation and scheduling to support operational demands.
- Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs, and fleet efficiency metrics.
Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Implement and optimize supply chain systems (ERP, inventory management, fleet tracking).
- Use data analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement across all functions.
- Identify process inefficiencies and lead cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify and manage risks across the supply chain, including logistics disruptions, supplier risks, and inventory losses.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, import/export requirements, and safety standards.
- Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness across all supply chain functions.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams across warehouses, logistics, procurement, and fleet.
- Establish clear structures, KPIs, and accountability frameworks.
- Drive a culture of ownership, performance, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain leadership roles, preferably in agribusiness, aquaculture, FMCG, or manufacturing.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end supply chains, including procurement, warehousing, logistics, and fleet operations.
- Strong experience with cold chain systems and perishable goods logistics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-functional teams across geographically dispersed operations.
- Experience in emerging markets/African operating environments is a strong advantage.
