Job Description
Town Planner
The Town Planner is responsible for the development and implementation of the town planning strategy for the municipality. The incumbent will be responsible for the preparation of town planning schemes, zoning schemes and other related documents. The incumbent will also be responsible for the administration of the town planning process, including the processing of applications for development and the enforcement of town planning legislation.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science in Town and Regional Planning or equivalent qualification
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in town planning
- A valid driver's licence
Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement town planning schemes and zoning schemes
- Administer the town planning process, including the processing of applications for development
- Enforce town planning legislation
- Conduct site visits to monitor compliance with town planning legislation
- Prepare reports and presentations for council and other stakeholders
Note: The incumbent will be required to work in a team environment and to maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the municipality.
